Best method to clean LCD monitor?

I went to Fry's and bought some stuff called iKlear. It mentions Apple displays all over it but the guy at Fry's says it should work on any LCD. So, I tried it on my LCD monitor... blech. Streaks won't go away. Good thing I didn't use this on my new Dell laptop yet. I'm tossing this junk in the trash.

Can anyone recommend a good cleaner for ALL LCD displays, not just Apple displays?

I've always got excellent results by using a clean, 100% cotton T-shirt dampened with hot water.

I use 99% Isopropyl Alcohol with water, 1 part Iso to 9 parts water. After getting the dust off of the screen, I spray a bit of the cleaner on to a clean, lint-free Microfiber cloth, and gently wipe the screen.

NOTICE: The following cleaners are UNACCEPTABLE:
? Acetone
? Ethyl alcohol
? Toluene
? Ethyl acid
? Ammonia
? Methyl chloride

These might cause permanent damage to the LCD due to a chemical
reaction. Some commercial window cleaners contain ammonia and are
generally unacceptable.

The safest way to clean the computers built-in LCD display is with a
soft, clean cloth moistened with water. Stroke the cloth across the
display in one direction, moving from the top of the display to the
bottom.

The following are cleaners considered by some industry guru's to be
acceptable however Fujitsu Computer Systems only suggests use of water.
Using any commercial cleaner, chemical cleaner or other cleaner and we
do not guarantee a positive outcome or that the screen will not be
damaged.

? Hexane
? Petroleum Benzine

So I only use soft cloth with water...nothing else period...no way I want to risk my LCD..I use a dry cloth(eyeglass microfiber for occasional dust)

Crystal view is that highly reflective glassy looking LCD right? I think the cleaning methods for that may differ from the standard LCD, which is of a different material.

Yes it has a glossy look...but my point really was not to take a chance..use a clean cloth with warm/cool water to be safe

Eh, no reason to spend $20. I tried the damp paper towel...worked great 🙂

damp paper towel OR soft cotton towel - stick with water and doit gently.

I would be careful with a paper towel - they are made of wood fibers, and based on the source material, could scratch plastics, much like paper CD sleeves can scratch CDs.

I agree with slightly-damn, clean, soft cotton cloth, or a commercially-produced micro-fiber cloth intended for cleaning display or coated-glass surfaces. That's what I use on my NEC CRT that has an anti-glare coating.
