Best method of giving up a pet?

Unfortunately, my girlfriend is no longer able to take care of her dog. What would be the best way of giving up the pet? She doesn't want to turn him over to an animal shelter because she doesn't want to take the chance that he'll be put down.

Why don't you take it? When you get a pet, it should be considered family, NOT property. For whatever reason she has to give it up  for her. When you add a pet to your life, you should be thinking about the future. If your life is not stable enough to handle it, then get a doll.
Anyways. assuming she has some time, spread the word and find that dog a nice family.

call all the vets in your area. ask if they will let you hang a pic of your dog in the office.

google no kill shelters or other orgs in the area that will help you find a home.

I suggest the local Humane Society. They won't gas the dog... they will keep it until it gets a new owner. I got my dog from there and I am amazed daily at what a fine specimen she is... I can't believe she lived there for over a month before we stole her away. 🙂

Oh yeah, pics of your GF and dog are required! 😛

What are its skills ?
Is it good with Kids ?
Has it had all its shots ?

These things are what we need to know.

All up to date on shots. He's a little over 2 years old. Great with kids...people in general. He loves to be around them. The reason why my gf can't take care of him anymore is because everyone in the house works full time and he doesn't get the attention he needs anymore. When they first got him, there were people always at home to take care of him and walk him, etc. He's better off in a home where there's a lot more activity going on.

Should've bought it from Costco.
LOL!

BTW OP, we'll be needing pics of the dog and GF...

I can provide pics of the dog, but not the GF.

Still want the pics of the dog? 🙂
Yes.
Does the sweater come with the dog?

If we can't get a pic of the GF, how about a pic of yourself with Gary Coleman? 😀
