You buy the hottest processor ever made, knowing this full well, and now you don;t like how much heat it puts out ? I would make a recommendation, but I am sick of the flame wars.

Well this is the " CPU/PROCESSORS AND OVERCLOCKING" forum...what did you expect for him to do. Buy it and not try to OC the $hite out of it?

We expect him to get a 2.8c instead of a 2.8e

Silly and unfriendly replies you've given this poor man who comes onto this board seeking advice and help. Not very cool.
Snide remarks towards Intel doesn't make AMD good or better. Why don't you guys just honor the mans decisions in choosing his hardware set-up?Is it so hard to be friendly to your brotherly computer enthusiast just because he didn't buy your exact set-up?
Get real.Get a grip.Get a life.Maybe even get a job advertising for AMD :)

Subhuman25, soul keepers been bitching about his presshot for months. It's really about time to put it in forsale forums instead of trying a new work around and possibly damange his chip.

btw i got my temps pretty much fixed, till my next project when I take it a step further and remove the IHS.

it turns out my heatsink needed to be tightened quite a bit more (I thought the screws were stripping out, but i guess they just needed to be spun a lot)
this dropped my temps 20c haha

(WITH PICS)
Because the Prescott core is quite controversial for its high heat dissipation, we decided to remove the heat spreader. Well, our findings from this little excursion were surprising - we found that the heat spreader is attached firmly to the die, and so our investigation resulted in killing the processor.

You can try this: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=38192">Removing the Prescott Heatspreader
