according to this AT review, 400Mhz PC3200 runs slower than 333MHz PC2700 for the 333MHz bus Barton.

so if i run PC2700 or PC3200 with my 2000+ Palomino w/ 133MHz bus, will it be slower than using something in sync with the bus such as PC2100 RAM?

right now, im running the palomino on the Asus A7N8X deluxe motherboard, with (2) 256MB DDR PC2100 and (1) 512MB DDR PC2700 for a total of 1GB running at 133MHz.

i'm wondering if i should go with (2) 512MB of either PC3200 or PC2700 RAM or just keep my current configuration.

i would keep your current configuration
running sync gives better performance than running async

to expand on this a bit...The AMD chip has a peak bandwidth of 2.7gb/s with the 333mhz fsb...therefore pc2700 which also has a peak bandwidth of 2.7gb/s (hence the 2700 is pc2700) is a perfect match...

Without raising the fsb of the chip the extra bandwidth is often wasted and may cause timing issues at higher speed with certain mobos and thus slowing the overall performance down...

If you could drop the multipler down and run 200fsb the pc3200 would be a perfect match....
