Best memory settings using Crucial PC-3200 ?

I installed my second stick of 512 and my 3dmark score halved ! - all the setting in Bios were Auto, only because I wanted to get everything stable.

I'm totally new to memory tweaking so forgive me for the simple questions.
So I then changed settings to CAS - 3 and DDR333 and then I got the best 3dmark score so far with my set up. What was my A8N setting my ram to on it's "Auto settings" that caused my computer to crash regularly - even during boot up ?

I got 3260 in 3Dmark2005 - is this average for my set-up ?

yup - I've got them in A1 + B1
I seemed to have narowed it down to the DDR333 / DDR400 setting it will crash on boot up into windows when setting it to DDR400 ! but if I lower it to DDR333 it is fine. but surely PC3200 ram is supposed to be set on DDR400 ??

Is there something else I'm supposed to be setting in the BIOS because everything else is on Auto ? apart from CAS-3.

If it is bumping you down to DDR333 with only 2 sticks, that means you have them in the wrong slots. Try them in A1 + A2 or B1 + B2.

You re not using Dual Channel....put sticks on slots A1 & A2 and put it back to DDR400

Err...it is...

Slots are

A1 B1 A2 B2

You must use alternate slots to use dual channel

Just tried A1 + A2 and all I got was a long beep and nothing coming through on the screen !
only seems to boot with them in A1 + B1

The manual states for a pair of dual channel use A1 + B1 ?? isn't that right or am I missing something ?

OK just to update here - I changed voltage on DDR from Auto(2.6v) to 2.65v and pushed the ram onto DDR400 all is now stable.

Is it just me or are these "Auto settings" terrible at adjusting to all my components !!

Are most people testing 3dmark 2005 in 800x600 ? because someone else with my exact setup was getting 8000 odd and I can only reach 3500 so far using 1024 x 768!
