I have been reviewing all my parts from various sites and from anandtech of course :D but I'll be damned if i dont know which memory to get. I dont care about how much it is, as long as its the best for this system and I am only looking for 1 gig max soo two 512 sticks

Im getting

Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
2 Geforce 6800GTs
Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Pro
Lian Li VX1200 Case
Plextor 16x SATA burner (when it becomes available)
Lite on 52x16x dvd burner combo
Western Digital Raptor 74gig SATA Hardrive
2 Western Digial 200 gig SATA Hardrives
Antec TruPower 550Watt PSU
Windows XP Professional
Logitech MX1000 Mouse
Microsoft Natural Pro keyboard (old school version :p)

If you may have any recommendations for any other item im getting or if there is somthing better please advise me as to so. I really need to get this put together quickly, and most likely ordering will take place on friday...

Thanks a lot for your help guys, I've been a big advocate of corsair memory for quite some time now. So azn thanks for that tip. Now I just want to know whats the big difference if I buy that one or pick up one of these. They are like 360 dollars, but they run at dual channel. I remember picking up some pc3200llpt's about 6 months ago for my old system and they were not dual channel.

Hell, actually i just want to know if dual channel is worth getting and if i buy the memory is that all i need in order to use it.

you should get dual channel for any computer from mid range to high end, all you need is the RAM and a mobo that supports dual channel. if you want to spend more money on your memory than a lot of people do on their graphics cards, go for the ones you linked. but why do you need such an expensive and high perfmance computer? imo, you're spending way too much for stuff that will only give you a very minor performance increase over stuff that's hundreds less.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the FX-55 doesn't support DDR2 memory. The memory controller is built into the cpu so ddr2 won't do you any good. Don't hold me to this as I'm researching memory for a new computer also.

anything with the new samsung tccd chips will do nicely
they all have timing 2-2-2-5 and can go up to 280HTT at least with 1T

like ocz el platium rev2 or corsair xms xl

also if u want to use Raid-0, u can setup 2 Rapter drives, that should give u a decent boost
but I heard if ur windows ever gets corrupted, wutever data u have in the raid drive is pretty much impossible to retrieve.

but if u keep all ur documents on ur other drives then its fine.

Also u might wanna replace those 200GB WD drives with Maxtor MaxIII(or something) they have 16meg cache so better performance, also they go up to 300GB (or 350 i forgot).

I think hitachi is coming out with similar drives that goes up to 400GB

29-102-181 Creative SBAudigy4 SB0380
(Serial#: xxxxxxxxxxxx) 1 $274.00 $274.00

if you notice i got the 6600gt for now, cause pci express for the 6800gt is like 500 bucks which is rediculous to buy right now. This card should tide me over until around mid-january and then maybe prices will go down..... The a8n-sli deluxe is kinda tricky to get right away soo I didnt include it in this order as well as the fx-55 since prices are inflated due to the holiday season. Soo after christmas ill most likely get the motherboard and processor. After those two all im left with is the plextor dvd burner which is still on preorder from plextor.com

I had a set of gigaworks s700's but they went up along with my house soo another forum post ive made klipsh was suggested over creative for my next set. Anddddd all thats left is a monitor. There is a 22 inch viewsonic crt monitor at newegg for 435 which is most likely my choice. I tend to think that crt is better than lcd unless someone can prove me otherwise :D

I cant thank you guys enough for your help. Its always good to have guys watching your back when youre wasting money like i am :)

Thanks again!

I'd definitely go with one of the 20" flat pannels from dell. $650ish will buy you a new 20" 1600x1200 or a new 20" wide screan... both of which have great pixel response times.

Hey Wuzup 101,
I started OC'ing and noticed you're running the same CPU, MB and HSF as I am. I just moved my 2500 to 200 on the FSB which gives me just under 2.2mhz. I had a Ram problem with my Crucial PC2700 which ran fine with my 2200 XP and the slower FSB but not at 166. Anyway I had one bad stick of 512 which I found on MemTest so I RMA'd that stick. But now I'm considering dumping the PC2700 altogether and going up to PC3200. Does your Corsair Ram have any issues and is it this model? http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=20-145-524&depa=1 What kind of temps are you running?
