The 2x512 of OCZ EL Platinum Revision 2 is $270.

I know that i will be able to achieve the full potential of the winchester core using that memory, but was wondering if there are alternatives at a slighlty lower cost?

it's that or the new crucial ballistix tracer series pc-4000 ram. from the pcstats review, it fortunately beat the rev 2 by a bit.
