I'm getting frustrated looking at all the different ram options out there. I was wondering if some people can recommend the best ram for under $200. PC3200 2x512 needed. Would like to stick to either Corsair, Crucial or OCZ. I'm not an overclocker, but I don't want 'value ram'. I'll be doing video editing and some gaming, so I want my system to be fast. Here's what my system looks like so far:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 512K 90nm (939)
MSI K8N NEO4 Platinum
MSI nVIDIA GeForce 6600GT Video Card, Model "NX6600GT-TD128E"
Fortron Blue Storm 500W ATX12V V2.0 Power Supply
NEC 16X Double Layer DVD±RW Drive, Beige, Model ND-3520A
ANTEC Performance Series II Mid Tower Case, Model "SX835II"
ANTEC SP10F side panel w/ fan
Mitsumi 1.44MB 3.5 Inch Floppy Drive, Beige, Model D359M3
Lite-On Beige 52X32X52X16 Combo Drive, Model SOHC-5235K BEIGE
WD 120GB SATA HD

Please be specific! Also, feel free to look at my setup above and give your opinion on what (if anything) you would do differently. Thanks!

hi:

I have always used Crucial memory and have never had a problem of any kind. Crucial uses micron chips one of the industry standards. I just bgt (2) 512m/b PC3200's from newegg but havent put my new system together yet. Cost $141 delivered. I'm not a gamer or overclocker myself.

If you read the reviews on newegg there are many high marks for Corsair also but I never owned any. I almost bgt them over the crucial just to check them out but why fix something if it aint broken. Good luck...

I'd recommned the Crucial memory becuase that's what I've always used too. Also, the Crucial Ballistix PC3200 is the cheapest memory with 2-2-2 timings at $230 for two sticks (newegg.com price).

These are Samsung TCCD on Brainpower pcb's. Real decent memory for the money. ;)

I looked at those, but the latest review said this:

"N/A,3/3/2005 9:09:41 PM
It's running a risk buying these hoping for Samsung TCCDs. I bought it crossing my fingers, but no go. The chips are infineon, and while they hold the advertised latencies at 1T, they don't overclock ... See complete review>"

Any opinions?

Took the plunge and bought 2x512 Ballistix PC3200. Actually found Mwave.com to be the cheapest. Plus, they have a special where you get $10 off $100+ order if you signup for their email subscription! Total came out to $224.36. Sweet. Thanks all!
