I switched from iphone to android. I'm looking for:

  1. Easiest way to have subscribed podcasts pushed to the phone. Support for two-way syncing of listened/not-listened status between PC and phone
  2. Best media player; with support for editing playlists on phone or PC, and have them sync both ways.
Don't mind using more than one app to achieve, though the simpler the process the better.

Thanks!

I believe Google Listen is the most popular podcast app. I know it integrates with Google Reader, although I don't use it myself so I don't know everything about how it works.

1. For this I recommend DoubleTwist (it's an app and a pc client). You can subscribe to podcasts etc and have it sync when you connect it to your pc. Also IIRC DoubleTwist will convert your media to a format that plays on the phone when you sync. The phone app acts as a media player which is pretty good.

2. There are a bunch of different ones, MixZing, 3(cubed), and DoubleTwist are some of the better ones. 3 also the ability to place the music controls on the lock screen so you don't have to unlock the phone to skip/pause etc.

These are all free as well.

For podcasts, I use the paid version of BeyondPod.

I used Google Listen extensively when I first got my EVO, but found it to be a bit lacking in usability and interface--it's not bad, but it's very barebones and for some odd reason I had issues with my podcasts automatically updating.

Still testing out media players, but currently using MixZing which seems to cover my needs. I don't need DoubleTwist's sync functions since I just drag and drop the MP3 files I want to listen to using my PC a few times a month.

Rock player seems to be the best with a stretch option and able to handle 720x480 anamorphic stretch to 854x480 flawlessly. Currently looking at others.
