How long do you think the exam will take? You might need some natural sugar (fruit) for immediate energy and alertness and some carbs for extended energy and alertness, like the bagel you mentioned. That ought to keep you going for a few hours.

Oh and how's the impaled foot? 🙂

The exam will take 3 hours. 🙁 There are a few minute-long breaks in between, so I can munch on things throughout the test. I'll pick up some fruit on my way home from work today.

Oh, and the un-impaled foot is doing much, much better, thanks for asking. 🙂 There's still a little ache, but the sharp, piecing pain is gone.

3 hours? That's nothing. You'll be taking 3 hour exams routinely in grad school. Just eat normally.

I find peanut butter on toast and a bannana works well. I'm a big OJ drinker but opted out because i didn't want the extra acid going around in my stomach. 3 hours isn't too bad. When I took it I didn't eat anything during.

Be sure to take a PHAT crap before and eat a bagle or two... bring some Sierra Mist soda (calms my stomach)

Hehe...that's the best advice so far. I would just take it easy and eat what you know won't upset your stomach so you won't have any interuptions from any bodily functions. As for me, I'd have a light sandwich with a Red Bull.

Phew! A red bull would have me bouncing off walls! :Q

tips for taking the GRE: time WILL be a constraint!! you hvae to answer each question since if u not ur point will be deducted!!

so think fast and accurate, make sure u got the first 10 questions right!! this is VERY important since the questions adjust to if u got the previous question right or wrong..

so if u start seeing really hard questions, then u should feel happy..

if u start seeing really easy questions, then u should be worried 😀😀

Stuff with low GI for a constant blood sugar level. Some oatmeal and some protien (an omlette, perhaps) along with some fresh fruit should do the trick.

I'm scheduled to take the GRE at 1:30pm tomorrow, and am wondering what kind of meal would be best to eat beforehand. There's a sushi place that offers everything 1/2 off on Saturdays from 11-2pm, but I'm worried I might eat some bad fish and get sick during the standardized tests.

Any good "brain food" recommendations?

Where are you located? I am taking the GRE tommorow at 2:00 pm...EEK!

GI?

glycemic index. Higher it is, the more processed it is and faster it spikes your blood sugar.
