I'm looking for a motherboard with the following characteristics:

1) Under $100

2) integrated CPU

3) integrated video

4) integrated sound, LAN, etc.

I'm currently using a PCChips V21G motherboard with an onboard VIA C7 1.5 GHz processor. I bought it from Newegg about a year ago for $70. It works great for 98% of what I do on a regular basis. However, the technology is at least a year old now, if not more.

The system lags a LOT when it comes to video compression, and things like that.

I was wondering if anyone has a mboard with similar characteristics that has a faster integrated CPU? Something at least on par with a Duron 1.8, if not dual core?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

>Buy new RAM, CPU, and MB. You may need to upgrade PSU.

You totally missed the point! I don't WANT to upgrade my power supply, which is why I want an all-in-one solution. (mboard with integrated video and CPU)

I have DDR2 memory, and I think most systems already use that.

I don't want to mess with buying or installing separate processor or video card. I certainly don't want to mess with rebates.

I AM interested in a motherboard with onboard video, CPU, sound, LAN, etc., selling for under $100, without any rebates.

I can still get the PCChips V21G for about $70, but was wondering if anything better has come along in the past year.

I want something that has had all of the components tested together, and that I can pop into a new system quickly, then load all the drivers from one disk - the one that came with the motherboard.

If you switch from the via setup, you may have to back up your files and do a fresh windows installation. I've had some luck avoiding a format switching back and forth with via and nforce chipset boards. I would consider buying the components as a combo deal and installing the cpu and heatsink yourself. It only takes about 5 minutes. This will give you more options. The am2 3800 dual core has one combo listed in pricewatch for $104 shipped. This is a much better cpu than any via c3.

He may have missed the point because you failed to make it. No where do you mention or provide any guidance on your power requirements.

If you could tell us the make and model of your current PSU, we might be able to recommend something that will be within its power budget. Video encoding is CPU intensive. If you want more CPU power for video encoding, you'll need a processor with significantly higher power requirements than the VIA C7's 12W ~ 15W TDP.
