I was going to buy an ASUS A7N8X until I found that it will not install the drivers on Win98. What would be a good choice and be compatible with Win98.

You can install the drivers on 98, you just have to manually install each device individually and reboot in between each install.

ive had lots of problems with nf1 and nf2 boards using win98

personally i would go with a via kt600 based board (something like the asus a7v600, or soltek kt600)

Yeah, it's probably too much of a hassle to spoon-feed the drivers to an nForce2 board. Why not spend ~$90 for an XP Home upgrade and then upgrade the hardware?

See my sig.

The first time I tried to install the chipset drivers on the Abit NF7-S, I had to do it one-by-one. Since then, I found my board undervolts vcore (check with mbm5 etc). Since upping the voltage to provide the chip with standard, everytime I've reinstalled the chipset drivers it went w/o a hitch. That is, at first the install proggie for the drivers w/n work and thus had to go one at a time. Now the installer works fine and I'm very stable.

Oh, there's a patch for sound for 98se you may need.
