I was going to use the Soltek nv400 but cannot find it anywhere anymore.

I have a 2600+ (getting it for 40$ retail, friend has an extra)

I am building a budget gaming system for a friend and need a good, but inexspensive motherboard to put it on.

The system will probably llook like this:

2600+
1GB ram
9800 pro
80GB hard drive
Cheap CDRW

So, I just need a MB for this proc, and I have no clue wich one to pick, reliability and value are key, I doubt that I will oc, since I dont think the 2600+ is much of an ocer?

Thanks

Try The biostar M7NCD. At $50 It is definately cheap. I've had one in my teenagers pc for about 8 months now with no issues. definately no an overclocking board either with no voltage or multi adjustments. If you want one with overclocking abilities then look at a ultra 400 board like the Shuttle AN35N-ULTRA $58, or the Epox EP-8RDA3I $61, or the MSI K7N2 Delta-L $63.

NCIX.com has the Soltek boards. and yes, they kick ass.. I'd still recommend you pursue your original choice.

I'll check out all those options, especially NCIX.com I love my Soltek board. I have never owned a better motherboard, and their support is fantastic.

Just checked ncix.... OUCH they nv400 is expensive. I love the board , but I paid 70$ for mine at newegg, at ncix it is 95$ I would prefer to get one, but if I spend more on the mobo I will lose something somewhere else in the budget.

Another solid choice is the Abit NF7-S for $85 shipped @ Newegg

A very large percentage of users on this forum have this board, and if you do a search you will pull up a lot of feedback.

I'm just trying to keep it as cheap as possible, so that I can afford to spend in other places like ram and video and get him the best gaming system I can

I agree on both fronts.. I've contacted them before, they really do take care of the customer!!
what about just getting the SL-75FRN2-L? they had them for $79 Canadian a while back.. an absolute steal.

Alot of the rcommended boards are out of stock at newegg unfortunatley. no NFS 7, no DFI ultra infinity etc.
