Now that i have established from you guys that i dont need a spring box (or box spring, w/e), although ill still probably get one, what are the best mattress brands (in terms of quality and FOR YOU) and where should i get them?

After some testing, it seemed like Simmons beauty rest mattresses provide too little support, and that Sealy was just firm enough (in some cases too firm) for me.

Discuss.

I had a Pillowtop, I think from Serta, whichever one Sam's Club sells, and it was awesome. Super comfy. Only problem is that I'm a twitcher and motion would transfer to my wife's side and wake her up, since she's a light sleeper. I don't know if you have a Bob's Discount Furniture in your area, but we got a Bob-o-pedic memory foam mattress and it's bloody amazing. I would sooner get rid of my computer than get rid of my knockoff memory foam bed. No motion transfer, super duper comfy...and that's about it!

I have a knockoff for like 1/2 the price and it's awesome. I don't know, it just feels like you're sleeping on a cloud or something. It's soft enough to be comfortable but not so soft that it feels like you're laying in mush or something. It's the best bed I've ever had, and I've slept on a regular spring bed, a Pillowtop, and a Sleep Number.

Did you try putting a glass of wine on your bed and jumping next to it like the commercials?
Did it spill?

I love mine...mattress/boxspring set was about 700 bucks. The sticker said it was made by Simmon's Manufacturing, but I don't recall if that's the brand name or not. I know a guy who owns a furniture store, so I bought it from him.

We've been happy with our Novafoam memory-foam mattress from Costco. It cost somewhere around $500-600, but I can't remember exactly. Very comfy, but you need a box-spring and/or your own supporting frame. We got a slat-based bed frame at Ikea to go with it. For the money, it was a really good deal.
