They aren't good until you add garlic. Lots of garlic.

mash the boiled garlic?

i would suggested roasting the garlic first then adding it, but you don't have that much time.

garlic mashed -

roast whole head of garlic in oven for 45-60 minutes
on stove heat 1 part cream with 1 part whole milk, put roasted garlic in there and simmer for 20 minutes. Parmessian cheese is a good addition as well.
boil potatoes in chicken stock until fork tender

drain, mash and mix with cream mixture and butter
top with fresh chives and parsley

edit - I forgot the salt, plenty and plenty of salt after the potatoes are drained.

You can make a garlic butter....slice the garlic very very thin, and cook in some hot butter and it will just melt in there real good. Then just add that to the mashed potatos.

Peel, boil (add salt to water) drain, add butter or margarine (I prefer the flavor of margarine), add whole milk and a spoonful or 3 of of Sour Cream. Beat until fluffy.

Little skin. Boil in quarters. Mash 6 potatoes with 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 stick butter. Salt and pepper generously, and garlic salt/powder. Potential seasonings: tabasco, lemon juice, mustard(for the adventurous) gravy(of course).

No fancy sh*t.

Start with Idaho Russerts
Skin
Chop into roughly 1" cubes
Boil for 20 minutes
Put in mixer bowl
Add copious amounts of whole milk, butter, and a decent amount of salt
Mix on high until all lumps are gone

I found this recipe and I like it. It's not a mashed potato recipe but I'm posting it anyway!

Goes great with steak or a nice cedar plank cooked salmon.

Take several fresh sprigs of rosemary and soak them in cool water for about an hour. Then get a dozen or so small red potatos and boil them for 10-15 minutes or until slightly tender but not cooked all the way through. Cut them in half and marinate in olive oil, fresh chopped garlic, salt and pepper for 1/2 hour or so. On your BBQ grill arrange the rosemary close together on the grill surface over medium heat and arrange the potatos fleshy side down on top of the rosemary. Cook covered for 20 minutes. Remove them from the grill, toss the rosemary and enjoy!
