There is a good chance that there will be some 4K monitor on Black Friday I can't live without, so I want to upgrade my hackintosh desktop before the day comes if possible to be able to run OSX at 60fps at 4K. I need a smooth experience and that means a GPU at least equal to the best Haswell Intel GPUs based on my experience with real Macs, but it has to be low profile to allow airflow in my case. It can be double slot though, and there is no strict space restriction so if a heatsink goes a little higher than the low profile standard that is fine.
Nvidia is honestly preferred because it is easier to hack normally (but not always, my hack uses a AMD 6450 currently to handle its 1080p monitor). And at least 2GB of VRAM is needed because I keep a ton of windows open and I have seen what happens in OSX when you run out of VRAM (DDR3 is fine though). Also I need a displayport, as HDMI (even at 2.0) doesn't work as well in OSX at 4k.
Thank you in advance.
