What is the best low impact cardio machine for home use (for a female)? I know there's those elliptical machines I see at the gym, and then there's something like the Gazelle, but I don't know what else.

Pricing preferably under $200...

I really like the jump rope believe it or not. Turn up the heat in the apartment until it's hot and just jump rope the sweat away.

The person I'm looking for this for has a bad ankle, so even a jump rope would be difficult for extended use.

i honestly don't believe you are going to get a great piece of equiptment for under 200

you might want to look into just some low impact exercise videos.

Yeah, I mentioned the Gazelle since it's the only thing that met my criteria, but I don't know if it'd be considered a good machine. My co-worker loves it, but I personally am not sure what to make of it. It may very well be the only choice under $200.

we have a gazelle at home and it is very low impact. your feet do not move from the steps at all. My wife seems to enjoy it. she does 45 min to an hour 4 days a week on it. I think we've had it for 2-3 years now and it is still working just fine.

Probably a membership to the local gym with a pool might be better in that case. Swimming is a total body workout and is rejuvinating on injuries.

I have an elliptical & love it... good deals to be had on ebay/craigslist since many buy them and then use them as clothing racks for a few years ;)
