Trillian keeps fsking up in RH8 for me (running codeweaver's wine), so beyond GAIM, is there any good chat client for Linux? Was hoping for something that manages multiple protocols (AIM/MSN/ICQ), is there anything out there like that?

Freshmeat.net is your friend. Based on a search there I would say No. GAIM seems to be sufficient and there doesn't appear to be any other development going on.

If you have kde libs installed you can try kopete. There's also a bunch of different jabber clients.
The best thing to do would be search freshmeat and sourceforge and try em all..

Yeah, GAIM is the best I could find, was just wondering if there was anything else (checked freshmeat and sourceforget to no avail). My boss insists on sticking with MSN (damn XP) so I can't communicate with him via gaim.

i tried everybuddy and although my MSN contacts could contact me, they weren't on my contact list. However, it worked fine for all my AIM contacts.

I also tried GAIM and i couldn't get the MSN contacts to work on that either.

Kopete!

Works with MSN Messenger, AIM, ICQ, Jabber and IRC... has a great, straightforward interface, and easy configuration/installation (for a newbie). Give it a try.
