Prety much any distro will do. However, my bias is toward Debian or Debian base Knoppix, MEPIS, etc...

I'm not up to date with Fedora project or it HCL list, because I only played with for a few weeks in the past & found it is poorly documented compare to the RH & Debian counter part. The updated version of Knoppix 3.3, 3.4 & MEPIS support WiFi any pretty much everything that I have thrown at it.

Well. I have a 855GM and it's a pain in the butt. It's a gateway though, and your company is a bit more linux-friendly.

Here is someone else's experiance with your laptop

It's a BIOS bug. And that 855patch ought to help out.

Also you should use the latest distro aviable from redhat, which would be Fedora. You need to have Xfree86 4.3.0 and a kernel with agp support (fedora does that, I believe).

The driver for your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 will be "i810".

Also look for a bios update for your stuff, that may help out.
