Best Linux distribution?

I'm curently running Red Hat 5.2 on one of my "test" PC's and was wanting to upgrade to a newer release of Linux. What is the best one out there right now? Several people have to me Caldera is king but I keep hearing good things about SuSe as well.

Opinions please??

If your handy and feel comfortable then go with Suse, either that or Mandrake. But then again the are Slack'rs and Debian lovers out there too. Take your pick their all free.

I never thought there was a best distribution per se. I always believed that there were different ones aimed at different people with different packages preinstalled.

SuSe is a nice distro, so is Mandrake, but shy away from RedHat 7.0. You might want to check out Linux Magazine or Maximum Linux for some reviews on various distributions.

I've actually seen only positive reviews about SuSe 7.0 and of some guys I know and who are running it, I've heard mostly positive reactions.

SuSe thus =)

Personally I really like Slackware. It doesn't come with all the latest stuff but it's IMHO the most configurable distro out there. You can get everything just the way you want it. If you don't have the time/patience to tinker with it a lot I'd say to go with Mandrake or SuSe. I've tried Caldera and didn't like it as much as either of the other 3 mentioned.
