Best Linux Dist to get???

Which one is the best to get and why? I have downloaded RedHat 7.1 and also Mandrake 8. But which one is the best one to use and includes the best features? I am new to Linux so would need something reasonable to setup but with enough of the features to learn.
 
i like suse. its as easy as mandrake IMO. both are full featured, you cant go wrong with either. ive never cared for redhat but you might. try suse and mandrake.
 
I recently installed rh7.1 and it's very nice. I'm learning (reading the O'Reilly book running linux) and the distribution seems fine for that purpose. I did a total install, everything! So I have Gnome, KDE, several browsers, Apache, etc. I set it up so there was no security since I have a linksys router for my cable line. It accessed the internet immediately, no problems at all. I've been playing with Emacs and the BASH shell, also no problems. The gnome/kde desktops and utilities are easy to handle and very windows like. Also there's a wordprocessor (ABIWORD) which I kind of like. It's lean, but it does work and the fonts seem to work on my printer using some postscript emulation (my hp printer doesn't have native postscript). all in all I'd say that you should consider it. Oh yes, the machine it's installed on is a slow PII around 333 mhz. I set it up as a boot from floppy only since I also have win2k on the same machine and don't want any conflicts. I set up a swap partition and a main partition of 4 gigs. Hope this helps.
 
I'll be installing linux on a dual boot Gateway server (you know the one!). Anything I should do to avoid complications?

I'm new to the dual boot config as well. What do I need to do and what is the best way to do it.

Win2K Advanced Server and Linux (one form or another)
 
What's the best car? What's the best house? What's the best city?

THere's no one answer, you have to see for yourself. Look for features you like, things that look good to you.. whatever you're looking for there is (or may not be) a Linux distro.
 
I am new to linux as well. I tried a number of different versions. Mandrake seems to have the most 'bundled' software included with it, but most of the new linuxes are really easy to install. Just keep mashing the keyboard until it says install complete.
