I need an email client that is super lightweight and will launch fast, or at least generally operate quickly.

I own a copy of outlook 7. I have used an early version of thunderbird but it crashed a lot.

I need my emails to be SEARCHABLE, and I need it to work well with gmail, as well as traditional POP services.

Any leads?

Koma mail's super light, super fast, and super ugly. I use it on a thumb drive for my portable app email choice. I don't know how searchable it is, or how well it works with Gmail, but it may be worth a try...

Edit:
I typically use Thunderbird as my regular client, and I'm very happy with it. It works with Gmail fine, and while I don't search much, the times I have it's worked pretty well.

I have asked more or less the same question earlier, except my criteria included being fully unicode friendly. Was given a bunch of suggestions, tried all of them and liked Thuhderbird the best. Reasonably lightweight, likable interface similar to OE (was easier for me to adapt), quite robust with everything I needed.

I use Eudora Pro - have done so for years. It has for me, the best email management system available, and is very customizable. T-Bird would be my second choice.

the Bat! It'a an old, fast, good client, fastest client I ever use. the Bat! have very simply interface and contains all first-need options. Very useful soft, if you prefer to work with your e-mail with an clients
