Best LCD to Purchase?

I did quite a bit of research and now I'm stuck on purchasing a monitor. I wish to spend around 300 dollars. I will be attending college and will need a monitor for my computer. I am a regular gamer and just want a good quality monitor. I was ready to buy the L1780 17" in monitor but then noticed some other suggestions. All of these monitors have DVI digital. Question is, should I really spend 60 bux more for the hyundai? Has anybody purchased the L1780 already?

Thanks, yeah the LG appealed to me right off the top. I just wanted to hear some suggestions... Tomorrow morning at 7am I'm going to check this forum, if someone has some good opinions about not buying the LG, then I wont buy it. Otherwise at 8am i will have made my purchase 😱

I have also been looking at the Hyundai, but that is a great price on the LG. Either one would be a great monitor. Where did you find the big rebate on the LG?

I'v had my Samsung 172x for 8 months and love it in windows.
My only gripes are
1) it does not support resolutions below 640x480
2) 16.2 million colors is not great for photo work.
3) An odd glare on DVD's,

I have been using a Samsung 910T (digital) for over a year ... wouldn't trade it in for anything else (excpet maybe an Apple CinemaVision)

I didn't think about buying that one b/c it has a higher latency than the monitors I was looking at and also a $397 price tag. Otherwise, it looks like a great monitor. Some very good reviews off the Newegg.com site.

I took a look at these monitors, and I still haven't made the decision between the HYUNDAI L90D+, LG L1780U, and the SAMSUNG 193P+. Can I get some opinions on what would be the best monitor for overall and also for gaming?

I am really enjoying my HYUNDAI L90D+ for gaming right now...very nice styling and an EXTREMELY fast monitor for gaming

very pleased with it, didnt think LCD's could game well until this monitor!

Well I'm not too sure how set you're on the choices you've listed but perhaps this lcd may interest you...

Unilke the Hyundai and the LG, its 8 bit vs 6bit which means better color reproduction

Damn, I dont know how but i missed that... I wonder if newegg.com will change my order if I call them monday...

Only downside to the 19" is that its warranty is 3 Years Limited Warranty
1 year for LCD Panel and 3 years for Labor & Parts whereas the LG's warranty is 3years quickswap which im guessing means that they will replace my monitor?

I'm trying to find some reviews on this FugiPlus... Some say its great some say its bad quality... anybody used this Fuji Plus FP-988D Silver-Black 19" 12ms LCD Monitor Built in Speakers - Retail before?

I'm using one right now and I'm very happy with it except that I haven't quite gotten the colors right becuase when I play games, in darker areas, the entire image seems to blend together because everything on the screen is black...

This is my first lcd but IMO, the image is sharp and the viewing angles are pretty wide. The colors do "shift" a bit when you move but everything is still clearly visible. This was not the same expierence I've seen with many of the 6bit panels I've seen at Best Buy, etc. At similar angles, the entire screen would become darker which is unacceptable for me.

I have no dead pixels and I really like how this lcd was constructed. The casing for the lcd is much better than Samsung's which are too dull and they creaks when you push hard on it. This lcd is very good for its construction and with its metal base, quite heavy and imparts a sense of quality. The only downside is that I can view the glue they used to put their logo on...

I would've gotten the LG too if it weren't for the fact that it was a 6 bit panel. I'm not 100$ sure that mine is 8bit but a program called displaymate says it produces 16,7xx,xxx colors which is what 8 bit makes.

Scroll down a bit and look at the biggest post, it provides for quite a nice review which I feel is similar to mine.

I just got an l90d, I'm happy with it. There's definitely ghosting though, LCDs just aren't quite up to par with CRTs in this area yet I guess. Would buy it again if I could go back though, so it's not that big a deal.
