well, originally I intended to buy myself the 19" liyama monitor, but my dad offers me 500 ? if I go for an LCD screen instead of the liyama (he's not very keen on a 22 kgs weighing monitor on the desk next to him)
now my main purpose for it would be gaming, and I just want to find out which LCD screen has the lowest ghosting, the highest dark balance etc ...

this can be either a 15 inch or a 17 inch up to $1000 or 1000 ? (they're approx the same now)
they can be a little over that mark, but not by more than 100

right now the
IIYama AS4332UT 17'' TFT 1280x1024 Rotating 2xDVI / Video
seems a good choice, but I was wondering is the
IIYama AS4315UT 17'' TFT 1280x1024 Rotating 2xDVI identical to it but without DVI ?
and is the
IIYama AS4314UT 17'' TFT (no further info given on site)
identical, but without DVI or so ?

because the prices each go 100 lower every step down, and that's some difference for some things I wont use (I would like to use DVI, but if the gain for going DVI isnt that great I wont miss it)
which brings me to my next question, is DVI very usefull ? only seen from gaming point of view, cous that will be what I'll use them for ...

thanks for any opinions, if u think a good 19" monitor beats those LCD's i'll try to overhoul my dad, but it'll be tough, maybe I should got for a cheap 15" LCD now (like the hercules 720) and get that for not even 50 ? and get a 19" later on when I go live alone... (that's after next year)

thanks for any info's and suggestions

well, I've beenbrowsing around some reviews, and I found that I have two options, either I go for one of the aforemented displays,

costing from 830 to 1030 ?
(so with 500 ? Dad-discount I get em for 330 till 530 ?)

OR

I can go for a prophetview 720 costing 530 ?
(so practically for free with dad-discount)
with a planning of buying a 19 inch CRT or bigger later on when I move out of the house.

any other ideas or suggestions ?

I recently picked up a brand new model from GEM. Inexpensive and with outstanding stats.

GEM (or Gemstar) GL-190Z2

500:1 contrast, 19", 1280*1024, <25ms refresh. I'm very happy with it, and it's nicely less expensive than alot of other 19" models. I paid just under $1000.
