Best LCD for gaming.

Okay, well I know LCD's aren't especially good for gaming. But I'm in serious need of some desk space and a new monitor. Any suggestions on a good lcd for gaming that is around or less then $2,000.00? I was thinking the SGI 1600SW?

I want to know too. Surprised with all the push to LCD's these days that we don't see more reviews of them on Gamer's sites. I brought an 18" LCD home from work the other day to play with, and while the picture is gorgeous for apps and such, it wasn't worth a darn for Quake or other fast games. Sigh.

Viewsonic has a new (?) 17 inch they claim has 3x faster response, but they don't say how fast that response is in the specs. The one I had was supposedly 50ms response time.

I don't like LCDs much for gaming cause they alwasy seemed to be a little slower than a good old-fashioned tube. I think LCD monitors won't really catch on unless space or the "status symbol" value of it greatly increases. I haven't been too impressed with what I've seen yet, but give it another 3-5 years. They'll be much cheaper by then.
