i'm looking to spend some $$$ on myself and was thinking of ditching my 17 in crt and upgrading to lcd to easy my eyes. I use my laptop alot more often now because it's easier on the eyes. I need one preferably cheaper and good for gaming. 15" or 17" thanks.

I think you will have to go with a 15" for under $300. Also, I just found this:

http://www.newegg.com/app/View...24-001-164R&depa=0

It's a refurb but its one of the best 17" for gaming right now.
Its a 6-bit TN Panel so color reproduction isnt the greatest but right now you cant really get an LCD with sub 25ms response time and a 8-bit panel (they exist but im sure they are really expensive).
Has gotten good reviews from what ive read (especially here at anandtech)

If you don't want to go refurbished, then keep a watch for deals there was a Samsung 17" on BB recently for $250 AR.

Personally, I have never had a ghosting problem or anything with my Syncmaster 170N, which has a 25ms response time. If money is a big concern, the extra cash for a few milliseconds probably isn't really worth it.

the hyundai l70s was a good monitor...but it ghostes more, noticeably more than my 2005fpw...so i dont recommend that too much. if you're looking for a 17", i suggest the 710N, 712N samsung that goes for around 250 after rebate. but why pay that much for a 17" when you can get a dell 19" for around 300.
