Best LCD display for the money?

I need to save some space and was thinking of replacing my mammoth 19" CRT with a 15" or 17" LCD display. Anybody have any recommendations for the best VALUE in an LCD display? Oh, one other question -- I do occasionally play games; is there any truth to the statement that gaming on an LCD is not good? I don't really know why it would be different than a CRT, but I've heard people say that...

Thanks.

mainly effects FPS games... motion blur.

imo, it's not worth it to buy an LCD unless you REALLY are cramped on space. I would not settle for less than a 17" one, and an 18" would be best.. but these are still pushing the $1500+ range (most i think still). That is WAY too much.. i'll settle for a ~$250 flat CRT.

LCD's are worth it.. I have a nice SGI 1600SW to look at right now 🙂 Any CRT monitor in my dorm room would be horrible. I can't imagine what it would be like. My desk space is cramped as it is right now with a 17" Flat panel.

If you have $4000, get the Apple 22" Cinema Display, which can be modified for use with PC's. Otherwise, I like the Samsung 800TFT
