Best large LCD monitor for ~$1500-2000

A a very rich client of mine is interested in purchasing a new computer and wants the best lcd monitor they can afford. What do you guys suggest? I know the Apple Cinema Display is tight, but it requires some hacking to get to work on a PC, right? I just want some plug n play love

And what would be the best place to purchase one online? I'd prefer to stay away from chain stores to avoid the excessive sales tax in my state.

A few months ago, MaximumPC did a review of large LCDs, and named the Sharp LL-T1820 the best with a perfect-10 Kick Ass award. It's on the low-side of large, though, at 18". (The review was 18" to 21" I think.) List price is $1,299, but you can find it cheaper.

Apple Cinema Displays work on PCs (maybe you need an adapter? I think they are just DVI though, not sure...), but the only real problem in my opinion is that there is no way to change hardware settings on these monitors on a PC. They only have an on/off switch, so brightness/contrast etc are stuck at whatever settings are default as these are changed though Apple software running on Apple machines. So, unless you know someone with a MAc that you can hook your Apple Display up to whenever you want to change settings, you may just want to go with the above mentioned Sharp, or find something else....
