Wow get rid of that lame topic title, and give us an idea of what you're looking for in the laptop. That might be a good start... at least you stated your budget.

Yes, Dell has a great amount of laptops around 1200. With some coupons you could get a basic Inspiron 9300 for about that price. If not, then the Inspiron 6000 is also a very good deal.

Would also prove helpful to mention what applications you plan to make use of most, as well as any battery-life/weight preferences you may have.

I'd recommend one of the Asian ones say the new flashy Toshiba Satellite's e.g. M40-129 1024 DDR multimedia with ultrabrite LCD, strereo surround speakers & dualmode DVD RAM Writer selling around 1200eur now here in Germany ;>
