Best Laptop Under $800

Need more info. What is most important to you?

Screen size?
Keyboard quality?
Graphics?
Hard drive size?
Manufacturer?
Warranty?

What are you planning on doing with the notebook?

Is $800 the absolute ceiling? If someone found one for $850, would you ignore it?

I'll put a suggestion in for the HP dv3. G4TV brought it to my attention and its about 4.5 pounds but thin like a macbook air

12-13"
Integrated graphics is fine.
At least 100GB

It's mostly going to be used at school between classes so it needs to be light. Around $800.

Would you be ok with a 10" netbook? If so then I'd suggest the Samsung NC10, best keyboard around plus great battery life.

This thing is pretty sexy. I dunno about the 13" screen for me personally tho. Backlit keyboard stirred some lust for me.

The Toshiba I posted has twice the RAM, twice the HD space, and a faster CPU compared to the HP dv-3 for the same price.

Got one with LED screen, quaddro nvs 160m, and P8600 for like $550

Please tell me where I find a P8600 14" latitude for $550 😵

Even the base model with the P8400 is for $800 when its on discount.

I was looking for a cheaper 13" lappy, and I ordered a refurbed Inspiron 13 for $550 from the Dell Outlet. Best deal I could find on a 13", but of course it's a refurb. I haven't received it yet, but I'll update when I get it.

If you're willing to go 14", Staples has a good deal ($550) for an HP dv4z (Turion X2 RM-72/Radeon 3200/4GB RAM/250GB - Vista x64). I haven't seen the deal online at staples.com, but the label on the shelf at my local Staples says the promotion is through 1/24. It's the bronze model btw, if that makes a difference.

All 12" are above $1000 mark.

the mini 12 is out now, and it can be had starting at $399

It's a Atom based netbook though, so it's not really directly comparable to a 12" notebook.
