I can't really find one, all the top sellers on Amazon with good cooling power and at least 2 USB ports have LEDs. If there isn't one I'll probably get this one. About $25 is best, but up to $40 max.

what kind of laptop do you have?

where are the intakes located?

why would you want usb ports on a laptop cooling fan?
the ports usually arent usb3.0, so they should not even play a factor in choice.

I've got a Dell XPS 15 9650, with the intakes on the bottom towards the top (hinge) 1/3rd of the laptop. I'd like some airflow over the rest of the frame because it cools by radiation from the aluminium body. What gets especially warm is the SSD located in the bottom and the charger and IO on the left side.

I'd like some USB passthroughs because this laptop only has two USB ports and if I'm powering the fan through one I'd like to still be able to use my USB controller and charge my phone. I could just buy a separate USB hub though.

Also I will be using it on soft surfaces sometimes so the one I posted in my first post might not be the best since it gets air from underneath.

to be honest i would get something really cheap as they are all basically the same thing.
Your laptop has ducts at the bottom, so yes a pad like that will work.

I would personally probably get something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Cooling-Teck...&qid=1523318427&sr=1-9&keywords=laptop+cooler

and use a cell phone battery pack like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerC...8&qid=1523318546&sr=8-3&keywords=battery+pack

or simular to power the cooler + charge your cell phone.

I would not use the USB ports on the laptop unless it was for true USB stuff, as it is a good way to wear them out, or damage them should something happen, like it getting knocked over and landing on said usb port, or you forgetting to unplug usb port, and pulling on the laptop somehow.

That ones looks nice, only thing about it is the graphic shows intake in the sides and out the top, but one review and another diagram says it draws air in through the top and out the sides. That would't work for me because the intake is the bottom of my laptop and it vents out the hinge. Have you used this one? If not I'll just keep looking for similar ones.

Appreciate the help!

EDIT: Maybe I'm wrong. I'll have to do more looking into where the fans go.

If im not mistaken, those blowers look like it draws air from the bottom, as that looks like the bottom shell of the laptop.

Correct @aigomorla it bring air through the bottom shell, and exhausts it downwards when the lid is closed, but ejects it up the screen when the lid is open, kind of like a Macbook Pro.
