Best Laptop Bag for 17" Laptop

I have a 17" M90 that I need to carry often for work. They gave me a wheeled suitcase style bag which isn't very useful because it is too cumbersome. So I bought a backpack style one thinking it would be the best way to carry a heavy laptop, but it is KILLING my back and neck.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a bag to carry a large laptop?

wow, you need to carry often and got a 17" ?

its big and heavy, theres not really a way to trump that. you could look for a messenger-style bag but...it still going to be cumbersome and heavy.

Why did you get such a large notebook if you were going to have to move around a lot?
 
Well it was given to me, not my choice. But the reason is because I am a design engineer so I need a "workstation" laptop to run 3D modeling software. The thing has to weigh nearly 10 pounds.
 
I did that for one year and ditched the 17-incher. However - my experience in travelling with a 9.6 lb. monster (not counting accessories) led me to use a briefcase type bag with a shoulder strap that was optional.

I have a backpack, but a 17-incher is just too big to use it.

I would suggest that you see about duplicating your heavy accessories, i.e., A/C adapter, cord, and stuff like that Have one at home and one at work.

Ideally, a second machine at home would be very good. Then you could just carry a portable external HDD back and forth.

Another option is, don't take it home with you. Leave your work at the office.
 
Good suggestions, but I have to use the office laptop, not allowed to install company owned applications on a personal computer. Besides that, the software we use requires some decent horsepower.

I have to carry it because I telecommute 2 days a week while in grad school. I typically leave my power brick at home and my docking station at work and just carry an extra battery when Im on campus with it.

I am going to go with an over the shoulder messenger style bag. Those Booq Bags look really nice.

Oh, and I don't think I'll need another bag again. Ever.
