Best LAN setup for gaming?

I've done a search and read through some of the threads that remotely pertained to my situation. Most networks are way beyond what I need so here goes....

I want to be able to connect approximately five machines up to a hub or switch and play Quake3, etc, etc. I have two machines of my own that share a dsl connection through a crossover cable now.

Would I need a switch or hub? I'll probably end up buying a broadband one port router to hook to the hub so I can share my internet connection between the two computers. I don't really want a router/hub or switch combo because we may add many more computers in the future and don't want to be stuck with an all in one router.

Thanks!

Hi,
1. Get a switch and not a hub
2. A combo switch/router can be used as just a switch, or you can add other hubs and switches to expand at anytime.
3. go to www.homepclan.com
That's all
As Always,
D
