I know this may seem stupid, but what is the best keyboard out there? I figure that i spend so much on my PC, i should have a good keyboard. People have told me keytronics is the best? Which model?

I like my Logitech Elite keyboard a lot,review here ,best keyboard will vary between users so what looks and feels good for you that counts.
 
If you haven't tried one of those "Natural" keyboard, I suggest you give it a try.

It's a bit uncomfortable at first, but eventually things get better. I can't (... or refuse) to work on a regular keyboard now... It's that good.

As far as brand goes... Microsoft makes a very good Keyboard (and the key's doesnt rub off)...

Microsoft Wireless Optical Dekstop for Bluetooth. IMO, the best keyboard and mouse I have ever used. It is wireless, has great battery life (I have been putting it through its paces for the past 2 weeks), and great feel. The keys have a nice travel, and fell good when pressed, no clickety clank noise. The mouse is ergonomically the same as the Wireless Intellimouse Explorer, but this one has bluetooth. Both the keyboard and mouse are on a secure bluetooth connection, and the paint job on them is done by the same people who do BMW cars. I have taken the keyboard/mouse into another room in my house, through a wall, and verified that they still worked. I was bout 20-30 feet away, with about a half of a foot, to a foot of wall inbetween the devides and the tranceiver. If you got money to burn, and want, IMO, the best keyboard and mouse, get these. They retail for 159, but got it at CompUSA for 149 (I know, great savings 😛). I would recommend this keyboard/mouse for anyone that is in the market for a wireless system, and want the security, and the range of bluetooth. Also, the mouse has never skipped on me, where the Wireless Intellimouse Explorer has. Tne new sensor on this mouse can track 9000 fps. I play fast action games, and the mouse hasn't stuttered in them. Hope this helps, and good luck with your search.
 
I use the Microsoft Internet KB now. Not the Pro. I have large hands and type hard enough that people 30 feet away can hear me. Really. For $25 retail they work great and stand up to daily beatings very well. I go through one about every six - eight months. I am about ready for a new one, now that you mention it.

Same one I'm using, like I mentioned above. The fact that BB had 'em for $5 after MIR on black friday was sweet 🙂 As said, this thing is really quiet, types well, and the extra 10 buttons are good too. Also, it maintains the Win95 layout, which I like to this day (nice big backspace, and the enter key is the same size as the backspace).

But I went to BB recently and it looks like the retail cost of the MS Multimedia kbrd is about the same as the non-sale price of the internet kbrd, and the multimedia one has a lot more one-touch keys for a lot more stuff: my docs, my music, volume up/down, track forward back etc etc. If this kbrd typs as well as the internet kbrd, why not? 🙂
 
IMO, Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro.



I haven't used their new natural, so I can't vouch for 'em.




I think they lack 2 USB ports as well, making the natural keyboard pro a keeper 🙂
 
I forgot the manufacturer name, but there's these keyboards which don't require any force at all to hit the key and have a huge amount of programmability with macros and things. Several hundred dollars for these, wich I could remember the name. Definitly not for everybody.

edit: Here it is , pretty crazy lookin, lol.
 
I have used my logitech cordlesss freedom keyboard/mouse combo for 3 years now . . . . i personally love the touch of the keys .. . the mouse isn't fancy but is solid and gets the job done. . . for three years .. . i have only changed batteries on my keyboard 2 times. I use it a lot too since i dun have a tv in my dorm room and my computer is my sole source of games and hw. I think its a personal choice though . .If you have the time. . go down to compusa or bestbuy and tryout the keyboard yourself and see which one u like.

I whole-heartedly agree with Cerb, complete with "CLICKS" 🙂
Using an IBM Model M now circa 1984, bought it at a local flea market for like 1-2 bucks, and its really the dang best keyboard ever made. Here's a couple of features...

PS/2 interface - Back in 1984! when everyone else was using AT. This thing is still compatible with all recent motherboards(except for the ABIT MAX series which only has USB ports)
Detachable PS/2 cable - so you don't have to un-entangle the mess under your desk should you wanna disconnect your keyboard.
Removable key caps - so you can wash your keycaps once they get frimeyy with your finger dirt.
No idiotic Windows/Internet keys - never liked the irritating keys that do nothing but well, irritate.
Classic keyboard format - its the classic standard format!

If you can't get one of these though, Keytronic keyboards are pretty good too.
 
I like the old style Logitech internet keyboards. best keys evAr. 😀
the new ones aren't quite the same, and I don't especially love the new MS keyboards.

I really love those $8 mitsumi keyboards... they type nice (I think so) and I love using those (I don't personally have one, i need the net buttons)
 
got reccomended this Cherry keyboard.
aviod them, its the most irritating POS ever. I used to use a BBC thing at school and i'd rather have that. The keys need hammering exactly downwards (slightly to the side and they sorta catch), esp the spacebar which i have to actually punch for it to register. SLight amout of abuse and keys fly off, plastic bends etc etc. Also it has crap membrane so pressing 3 keys at once just doesnt work, which is NOT good for gaming (esp FPS). Even the little stands at the back dotn have enough angle so they fall down if you put preassure at the top end of the keyboard.

Now this Easytouch keyb i got ages ago, took some serious abuse, keys a little slow to respond tho maybe, but perfectly fine and sturdy... theyre cheap too. Looking above im going to order na keytronics tho.

slick reciever
logitech "feel" for keypresses (this is more of a personal preference, i actually love the pros of ms and log keyboards, and deal with the cons from both sides)
shorter in height than MS'a counterpart the MS Wireless desktop Pro, and better looking IMNSHO

cons:
comes with wireless optical mouse thats useless for gaming so you pay for a mouse you never use if you game
$70+ pricetag (ouch!)
