Best keyboard vacuum?

glen

Lifer

Instead of buying a new key board every year, maybe I ought to try vacuuming out the Doritos and pop tart crumbs.
What is the best thing to do?
DO you all wash them and then dry them out?
Vacuum them?
Replace them?
Please realize not eating at the keyboard is rally not a viable option. 😀

Turn it upside down and shake it/hit the bottom (top) of it. Then use a normal vacuum hose to suck between the keys.

Pop all of the buttons off (yes, they will come off without damage), turn the keyboard over and unscrew the screws, take out the circuit board, then any other little parts, then wash them or put the plastic parts in your dish washer, then reassemble 😉

Seriously, even a 4 year old with autism can do it 😉

Man, I did that once, and I swear it would nto go back together.
Some boards are different than others, but I cant tell which ones.

I wash my keyboard. The Dell Quietkey (amoung others) is perfect because you can take the top off, leave the electronics behind, and scrub it in the sink.

EDIT: The keys stay on the board, no need to pop each one off.

Put it will still be cleaner if you take the keys off. YOu cna do the same thing with most keyboards, but if you really want it to be clean, you'll pop the keys off.

I honestly can't see how it could get less clean that way. I soak it in the sink with some Simple Green and then use scrub brush. Those keys get quite clean, and fresh smelling also. 🙂

I just take the keyboard outside, hold it upside down, and start shaking and smacking it from all sides.... Then i take a damp cloth and do a couple sweeps over the keys... Works well enough.
