i frequent Dice and Monster, but most of the jobs I see are for contract positions. Are there any better sites for a person looking for a permanent position?

Permanent position = great employee right off the bat
Contract position = we found you on a freaking website and we'll give your ass ONE chance

1) the market is saturated with "techs" looking for jobs
2) the economy is shitty and jobs are very scarce

Take what you can get, you won't find what you're looking for.

you sure are a great big ball of cheer aren't you?

I'm in a little bit different category than the avg tech. i've got 10+ yrs SAP development, happy in my job, make good money but there's no where to go.

There are plenty of contract positions 3 - 10 months and full time team member positions, but I'm looking for a team lead/mgr position.

It's called being "realistic."

If you already have a job and are happy in your job, stay there please. Lots of other people would kill to have a job even that they hate if not for anything other than a paycheck.

i'm not ungrateful for my job, but I don't want to be a pure programmer forever - it may not be the exact right time to make a move, but I want to keep my eyes open

As an Oracle programmer, it is my understanding that SAP developer jobs are on a consultant basis only. It is my impression any SAP developer is already clearly aware of the non-permanent job situation their choice of specialty provides.

Also, an active SAP developer should probably stay aware of the development status of the large companies that use SAP.

I've found two promising full time jobs through Monster and Dice and am currently at the final interview stage for both.

They're out there, just more scarce than normal.
