hi all.
I have an iPhone for over a year now, and I have been waiting for quite a long time for someone to assemble a list of the best iPhone apps. Those lists are usually average and cheap, and don't represent the actual BEST stuff out there. Anyway, I wanted to share with you all my findings, a blog post that consists of (almost) everything an iPhone user might need:

It's funny how few of the favorite apps on my list are on that list.

EvolutionRGB and Sketches - both are drawing programs. I hand my iPhone back to the kids on car and plane trips and they take turns drawing on it. Evolution is interesting in that you play with the elements using a fingerpainting style drawing input method. And Sketches is more like a cross between a basic computer painting program that you shake to erase.

For games, I like iZoo (Bejeweled 2), iSolitaire, Labyrinth iBlackjack, and iGo (the boardgame "Go"). In particular, iZoo is very fun to play, and the AI in the iGo game is ridiculously good, and Labyrinth is extremely responsive and very well coded and written. When I want an app to show the accelerometer on the iPhone to someone, I always use Labyrinth.

I love DeviceConnect. It automatically logs into wireless networks - in particular, I have my T-Mobile info in there, and the work network in there. It saves a lot of typing, and makes WiFi seamless. It's been particularly useful at airports.

I like iRadio - despite the fact that it's a little buggy. I will put it on when I'm at work - it's amazing to listen to the BBC, or any of literally hundreds of other streaming radio stations, wirelessly using an iPhone.

I like the HP calculators. I have the advanced scientific and financial calculators installed. They work exactly like the real deal, reverse polarization and all! It is incredible. You don't know how many times I am at dinner with friends and need to run some interest numbers.

Does anyone know if there is an equalizer program other than the iphone Default, because we all know it simply does not work.

I use the bass boost (turn bass under the master volume all the way up) on my computer through my audigy 2 zs and the bass comes out wonderful even with the Iphone stock headphones. I cannot understand why the Iphone isn't able to do the same thing. what is done differently?

Ditto, especially the financial ones. Also Crosswalk is great for NYC.... don't have to look for MTA subway maps anymore :)

I just got my iphone last week. Is there any program that monitors the processes like windows mobile and lets you end certain apps? Cause i feel like whenever I open apps on my iphone then get out of it, that they are still running in the background and potentially eating up my battery. thanks
