What was yours!?

That was for wussies.

Best invention: All them motors (and in my late childhood) computer parts for LEGO. I mean, is there a better toy? Can anything on this earth ever displace the LEGO and the best toy ever? I mean, you have these stupid new ones that are good for little girls and stupid kids who couldn't hack the older sets, but then you also have things like Mindstorms with which you can do just about anything, and I truly mean that. I have seen crab-drive modules, killough platforms, 3D scanners, copy machines, amazing articulated arms, everything.

When I have kids, I swear I will buy about 20,000 worth of LEGOs for them. I think the reason I enjoy and am succesful at things like physics and chem and the reason I am going into engineering is that I got a practical education in mechanics and basic physics when I was a kid trying to create giant LEGO's. When a kid on our robotics team doesn't know the whole torque and speed relationship thing I ask them why they never played with LEGO's. .

I learned everything I know about mechanical design from playing with em, and I am the Lead Design on our robotics team (check out http://www.chiefdelphi.com for more information on this (amazing) program) because I know the most about this stuff. I can hold my own with our engineers in design meetings.

LEGO made me smart.

They were invented before my time, but all that mechanical stuff was ( i think ) created when I was a kid. Or, it was mainstreamed when I was a kid.

Best toy ever.

I was thinking Transformers or Lego were dam sweet when I was younger. Then I see you have also picked Lego 😀

That's because legos were the perfect toys. I've now found they canceled most of the technics, so boohoo on them.

I can't believe nobody mentioned Erector Set!

And for those of you with a fuzzy memory of 8 track tapes, well I have an old Craig 4 track player and some Frank Sinatra and Perry Como tapes. Hell, it might even still work. I'll have to try it. 😀
