Best internet connection for 2 PCs?

I am currently building a new A8N-SLI system. My old Fujitsu CE21C computer will be used occasionaly by my wife, and she also wants to have internet access.
When I finish building the new PC, I will connect both to our Yahoo!BB ISDN connection. How can I connect both without sacrificing any performance on the new PC (online games)? Would a network be best? And ..um... how would I set up a network?

If gaming is the main resource hog on your network, it would be a good bet to do proceed in two ways:

1st ISDN? Are you living in the stone age? 😉 Its time to start thinking about a Broadband connection, if possible. This will drastically increase your Bandwidth throughput to both of your PC's

2nd If you decide to go with a higher speed connection, you're going to have to do away with your TA and invest in a router. This will enable multiple PC's to share one Internet connection and provides a main point of network management.

Now, granted, i'm not extremely familiar with Japan's Bandwidth possibilities but the US is ranked 10th in the World Wide Bandwidth wars, so it shouldn't be a great stretch to find out if you have Broadband available in your area. And if memory serves me correctly, ISDN lines are extremely expensive (at least in the US, they are), so you will probably end up saving some cash in the long run.

If you're unfamiliar setting up networks, pay a little extra and have the tech get you up and running with the companies provided cable modem. Once that is installed and you've purchased your router, its almost as easy as plugging in your router (for base functionality). This will leave an extremely vunerable connection but that's for another post.

Hope this helps 😀

Cheers-
Ya, I am painfuly aware there are faster internet speeds out there. In my city, I have the fastest available to my address - broadband 26M. I believe it is ISDN because it comes through the phone line. It is offered by a company called "Yahoo!BB". As I mentioned, it is already hooked up and I am using it now with 1 PC.
How can I hook 2 up?

Just setup ICS with XP. If your gaming and building a New Rig I would assume you'll be using XP Pro. Just setup ICS.

Just remember when both of you are online, you'll have some slowdown because your broadband speed is somewhat limited. If all she does is surf I would maybe look into setting her up with dialup which will suit that purpose just fine. Most services are pretty cheap nowadays too.
