If I do website hosting or game server hosting, the server will be:

Server specs:
Dual Xeon 3.6ghz
8GB ram
400gb SATA II HD or 74gb 15,000 rpm scsi

Colo: 10mbit unmetered on decent routing.

Edit: ^- above basicly means I have a really powerful computer that can upload at a max of 1280kb/s at any one time.

For example, a player playing cs 1.6 is downloading about 6kb/s, and the server is uploading at 6kb/s..

Also if hosting files, 1280kb/s would be the max overall bandwidth to give. (Eg 280kb/s to person A, 1000kb/s to person B)

Ideas? Suggestions? Etc?

some kind of site that would find the lowest airfare and hotel rates. unfortunately you have to go back in time to 1996 to be successful.

RossMAN: that's pretty funny because I just got a PM from someone about "where did you get your colo from?" and I pointed them directly to webhostingtalk ;0

Unfortunately WHT is currently down, they're having problems with their load balancer according to an inside source.

There a so many hosting companies out there that I find it tough to believe it can be very profitable. You'll end up having to cram insane numbers of people on a single server and offer first year promo deals that are near free just to be competitive.

Not unless you have a niche market like I do.

I target local small businesses offering basic hosting (50MB/2GB) for $19.95/mo and it works pretty well. Of course there are a few other trade secrets, I can't and won't reveal them all :)
