I am looking for a reliable and cost-effective International calling app which integrates well with Android devices. Tried both Skype and Viber Out in the past.Though the unit call rate of Viber out is substantially cheaper than Skype the call quality has been disappointing marked with static, muted pauses and too many jitters. Is there an alternative which is suited for Android platform?

I use GrooveIP to access my google voice number to make and receive free calls to/from the USA from China.. It's not great, but it works. While in the states I also use it to call China for cheap. Although I must say the solution works MUCH better from the USA.

Groove IP is free only within US and Canada rit ? I make most of my calls to my customers in Apac region particularly India,Pakistan and Bangladesh where the Internet connection isn't that great .

I've ran tests measuring how VoIP apps performed in various WiFi configurations and out of them, surprisingly this one app Global Call performed better than the most popular VoIP apps such as Skype. I have been using it to call my folks back home in India.Had no reason to complain so far..Integrates quite well with my Android device.

I've been using Google Voice for years. Rates are better than Skype for the countries I'm calling, and the quality is just as good if not better, and also more consistent (Skype is rather erratic, sometimes it just failed).

Oh... you're trying to advertise your app. Now I understand.

Kakaotalk if they also have an android device.

Kakao talk is fucking lame. The company itself has deals with all sorts of korean app companies where if you install it randomly spams messages from your own ID to every user on ur friends list at random.

Huh, that's strange. I didn't have issues using it a year ago. Since you are from Korea, I am sure you know better than my ex. :D

Yeah, its pretty lame. It's getting of hand. Korea's version of Kakao is stacked with so many ads. The version is different from other countries since you can order/buy gifts from korean outlets that are in partnership with Kakao.

Well to answer OP's question, there are a lot of calling apps that are free but lag is going to be an issue no matter what. You should try the paying voip apps which are much better.

@fandroid, Global Call is actually a voip app from South Korea :D. It's not as popular as OTO in Korea but it is definitely cheaper. I use it myself on occasion.

Yeap. You get it instantly. Some of my friends have already used this bonus, not for calls but to top up their prepaid phones. Since you can only get it once, getting max is the best deal.

Honestly for VOIP calls, stick to Skype. If you're not willing to pay, then the alternatives will be a significant step down.

Honestly, I don't know why everyone thinks skype is the only one thats available or the best one. Even Rebtel is better than Skype in quality of calls. The only lame thing is they package their deals too much.

I agree Skype is good but only when you have to call a particular country . I have to make calls to couple of Asian countries and Skype isn’t an economically viable option .Their target specific package deals are good but I’m not a fan of their pay as you go option.

I agree if Rebtel had better pay as you go option I would have opted for it .After checking Global Call FB page I think it should be quite a good app coming from the land of the Samsung and the LG’s . Just purchased credits and registered my ID for the promotion.Yet to receive my bonus credits though....

In my perspective, this app is quite popular in Asia countries by cheap rates and stable connection, I often use SNS like Line or Viber for free calls but when it comes to landlines or dumb phone, global call would be recommended. They make events often, I saw on facebook last week that they have ongoing promotion when you can get more that you pay, is it what you are saying bonus credits? hope the link works: www.globalcall-1plus1.com
