I dont know much about these specific models, but would like to mention that Canons are far superior to Lexmarks as far as longitivety and running costs.

Heres a Bump for a more informative answer...

I have Canon's iP3000, and it's a bargain. I bought it for $59.99, it came with full cartridges (not half-filled demo carts), offers duplexing (prints on both sides of the paper), two paper trays (I keep one filled with letter, and use the top tray for photos and envelopes), is lightning fast at text, and reasonably fast and of good quality with photos.

AFAIC, Canon currently has the inkjet mojo. If you want it for strictly photo prints, the Canon iP6000 (six color) should be better than the iP4000. The iP4000 (four color plus a special black for text) would be better if your mix of printing is more heavily weighted to the text printing side. And as others said, any Canon will save you lots of money over its life in ink costs (particlarly if you buy 3rd party ink tanks - I buy mine from USAinkjet on eBay). Plus if the separate print head ever goes bad, it is easily and inexpensively replaced by the user.
