Irfanview is nice...and free, does pretty much all formats as well.

FastStone Image viewer. http://www.faststone.org/

I like it because all editing can be done by simply right clicking the image. I've tried Irfanview several times but keep going back to FastStone because of that one simple feature.

I would install all the ones mentioned above and see which one best fits your needs.
They are all free...

This! I use Irfanview because it also runs my scanner via TWAIN.

another vote for Irfanview.
I've been using it as default viewer for at least 12 years now. I love how I can quickly scroll through images with the mouse wheel, find one of interest and click drag a crop box, change contast/brightness/ect and than save that image all in a matter of seconds. Great for light editing or in conjunction with other photo editors and draw programs.

I use XnView. IrfanView is now available from Windows Store which is rather handy.

Edit:

I use xnview as well. Previously (years ago) it was Faststone.

Although this thread is an obvious necro by someone looking to plug a specific software.

Look for the actual necro post right before yours, 1c post user with that style.

I see. He's kind of lost in this necro thread with everybody making necro posts about a necro subject that is not 100% necro.

I used to like ACDSee cuz it was really fast and had decent features. But every version gets a little more expensive, intrusive, and bloated.
I think Picasa is probably a better choice now, especially with the ease of uploading.

Irfanview plus it's plugin file has helped me for MANY years...I don't know how long but I'd guess 10 years+

I take the 64-bit version. Some of the plugins (like its OCR package included in its add on files pack) don't seem to work with the 64-bit and want you to go Jurassic to 32 bit. Of all the reasons to go 32-bit, maybe the OCR capability is the highest priority.

Just using the viewer built into ACDSee Ultimate...it's simple enough and quickly links to the Develop and Edit modes.

That said, XnView would be my choice if I didn't have ACDSee installed.
