I just ate half a bag of Gardettos and noticed they it said "Best if used by... Feb 07 2010." I just bought these from a pantry. Kind of pissed at this, what would ATOT do?

Yeah, I just googled around and this date is not an expiration date, but the date that the peak "best" taste will last up until.

had me all worried, ha

Time to purge!

Honestly, unless it's some sort of meat/dairy product (excluding cheese) I do not really concern myself with expiry dates. If it looks/smells/tastes ok, it's ok to eat in my books.

I don't put much stock in 'expiration' dates either. I just finished a gallon of milk yesterday that 'expired' on Feb 21st. I'm still here.

you do realize it takes 48 hours for expired milk to eat through the outer lining of your liver and kill you, right?

You seriously had to google the difference between "best if used by" and "expires on"? Wow.... just wow.

That's pretty sad dude.

I drink enough for my liver to know it needs to keep it's shields up!

I LOVE me some whiskey!

Even expiration dates have alot of padding built into them.

Any time I buy fresh fish or meat at my local store they tag it with a "best if used by" sticker that expires 1 day after I buy it.

I usually just ignore it. I figure as long as I eat it within a week it'll be fine. Hasn't failed me yet.

Just finished a sandwich with some olive loaf that had a date of March 1. Tasted great on some rye bread, with cheese and mayo.

unless it's meat/dairy and there's no mold, your worst risk is eating something stale.
