can anyone point me to what they feel to be a very reliable, small (preferably hogging little resources), ics program for win2k?
i used to have sygate 3.1, will it work w/ win2k? i've tried but it hasn't so far. any ideas on what i can alter to make it work?

thx

Try using the win2k installed ICS. Just enble it in the machine with the modem. It's a perfect solution for high speed access. I heard problems with a dial up connection....

Yeah I agree with Twilling, try the built in ICS with win2k. If it works why bother using another ics. I've been using it and it doesn't seem to be a resource hog.

I use the builtin ICS capabilities of Win2K but it's been known to drop packets and apparently Microsoft has acknowledged this (I don't have the link though)...

This will cause programs like ICQ and/or AIM to disconnect and reconnect periodically (not that often though)

But for the most part, it's an easy to administer solution.

Sygate should work just fine in Win2k, though. I'm sharing 3 other computers through mine with it. My only problem was that Zone Alarm blocked it until they released a patch. Scared me for a day or two.

If Sygate doesn't work, temporarily disable any firewall, then try it. If it works, then you can tinker with the firewall software. Good luck.

I never got ICS to work right in Win2k.

I had trouble with ics in win2k as well, I switched to sygate and it worked quite well. Finally I switched to a hardware based cable/dsl router/switch and it's worked like a dream ever since. Most carefree product for the pc I've bought in awhile that actually works as advertised.
