I'm trying to get a little more life out of this system before I upgrade to C2D. Its going to my son after that.

My current idle temps are ~60 degrees celsius and I over head after a few mins of playing any game.

The HSF I bought when I built the system sucks and gets filled with dust really bad and Its not removable to clean very easily. Once i take it out its going the trash.

I was looking at this: Scythe SCMN-1100 100mm Sleeve CPU Cooler - Retail

http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16835185037

Is that any good? Anything much better??

thanks a lot

Holey moley!!!

Well, we have the same CPU -- just different mobos. And, I'm running the same cooler that you're thinking about getting -- the Scythe Mine. I'm in Arizona, and my CPU is 36.5º C right now... Really! So, I guess this thing works better than I thought it did.

Having said that, if I was going to buy another cooler, right now... today... it would be a Thermalright Ultra-120 with a Silverstone FM121-B fan. ;)

Arctic Cooling Freezer 4 is great. My parents have one on their 3.0 GHz HT Northwood system (875PBZ mobo) and it idles in the low to mid 30s even in summer. The price is great too, and it's very quiet with a fan controller on it.

I learned quickly that the Ultra 90 is your best bet, however if your mobo has the socket turned the wrong way, youll have to settle for the XP-90 otherwise yourll be throwing CPU heat directly into your PSU.
