ok, i have a dragon orb, but its loud as hell. I dont mind it so much but my roommates are going to kill me if i keep it cause they can hear it down the hall. I dont do any overclocking, just normal stuff. I have an Athlon XP 1600+

any suggestions?

Alpha 8045, it uses an 80mm fan so you can move more air with less noise. Downside is, it's around $50.

I've read the Thermalright SK-6 was a good fan and not too loud....check out some of the reviews.

You're not OC'ing, but you want the best HSF for an Athlon XP? I'd say get the Swiftech MC462 (new revision with the helicoid pins). Should run you about $70 w/o fan or shipping. Or you could get an Alpha PAL8045 for $40 w/o fan or shipping.

My personal favourite at the moment is a Taisol heatsink (the one with the copper insert) and a Thermaltake 33cfm 60mm fan, good performance, cheap and no louder than a 26cfm YSTech - I got that combination here in the UK for £23, which translates to around $35, but I'm sure you could find one for a lot less in the States (assuming that's where you are).

cheers
