Best HS for an NF7 r2.0

What would be the best HS for an NF7 r2.0 (non - s) ? I checked the SLK-947U but Thermalright says it won't fit the NF7S 2.0. I believe the NF7 and NF7S are physically the same so I don't see that it shoudn't matter, but I thought I would mention it's not an S board. .

Also, has anyone ever found the bolt on HS's to cool better than a clip on of the same type? For example: The 800A-U or the 800A-U? Was thinking the weight of the HS might weaken the clip over a year or so. If that's possible then the bolt on method would be the better option.

Thanks

i would say the 900a would be a great buy. yeah the 947u hardly fits on anything, so i wouldn't even look at that. however, the 900a with a vantec tornado would really blow you away :D:beer:

I've just fitted an SP-97 with 92mm Papst fan, replacing an SLK-800 with 80mm fan. System runs quieter and cooler, so far gained 100MHz (and lost 9°C) on my Mobile Barton.
Highly recommended, even with the bother of removing the motherboard to fit it.

Are you using the 2.0 board? Any problems getting it to fit??

Yes, NF7-S 2.0 - no problems at all. I'll rush off and change my signature now, then it looks like your fault, not mine that you had to ask :D

(Sure... I'll play along. ) I just saw the one in your sig, did you have any trouble getting it to fit? Thermalright says it's a no-go on the r2, at least that's what they have on their mobo compatibility page. I might go with a 900U if Newegg had one.

Thanks

I asked a similar question as you did on this forum a couple of days ago. I have gathered that the Thermalright's website may not be very correct. A few people have assured me that they had no problems installing the SLK 947U onto their NF7-S ver2 board. As of now, I have just received my 947U and will mount it this weekend.

Keep us informed as to whether the SLK-947U works on the NF7.

I'm awaiting a Newegg refurb NF7 for my new render farm node/folding box, and I ordered an SLK-700 w/ TMD fan ($17.99 + s&h @ hardcorecooling.com) instead of the SLK-947U with Panaflo L1 only because Thermalright's website said the 947U wouldn't work. If the 947U does work, I might put one on the NF7 and move the 700 to a different box. If only the SP-97 was in my budget...

The SP-97 is fine on the NF7-S R2.0, it's only the 947U that they say has a problem.

Thanks for the info.... I did a search in the cooling forum before posting but didn't see it, but I'll give the monster a shot. It looks large enough to cool a stove.
