What is the best home componant DVD player out there.
Not the most expensive. Just plays burned disks the best?
I archive all my DVD's because I have a 4 year old that like to use them as frizbee's!!!

What are your recommandations?

Thanks in advance!!!

my RCA plays them fine, got it at walmart like 3 months ago, its component, progressive scan... cost like 80$

I just got a Zenith DVB318 that upconverts to 1080i through component and DVI for $160.

This is supposedly one of the best component DVD players out there and is the only one that does 1080i through component.

The $100 Sony I got about a year ago plays DVD-R and -RWs just fine, both a straight copy I made to try it and a DVD I made from a home movie VHS tape.

But Apex players are supposed to have the widest compatibility even if the manufacturing defects are high and build quality is a little low.

plays dvd+r/rw, svcd and divx on cd or dvd+r/rw

I've had my Philips 642 player for a few months now, and I love it. It's played everything I've thrown at it on several different media types.

The only things I don't like about it is there is no shuffle feature for the MP3 playback and it cuts the Divx filenames off at about 12 or so characters in the file browser.

I have a toshiba that plays everything I backed up....on dvd-r and dvd+r/rw. SD-3950 to be exact.....got it for like $70 at BB last december.

Can you notice a difference from other dvd players (480p ones)?

Noticed that eCost has a Yamakawa DVD-238 for $19.99 after rebates (+ $3.95 handling). Anybody know much about this player. All I want is one that will play mp3's and an occasional movie.

Thx, spacejamz! I actually looked at that site earlier. Saw the 218 but didn't see the 238. 218 will play mp3's but there weren't any comments re: 238. I think the 238 will play the mp3's...just want to make sure.
