Is the 7800GTX the best at the moment or will an ATI x850 xt card be better for Battlefield 2

7800GTX and you get TSAA for those jagged plant textures. Everytime I crawl through some bushes, I cry at the 8-bit nintendo like rendering of foliage.

depends on if ATI is delaying it's next gen because of difficulty, or if they are taking more time to develop it into something that will kick the 7800's ass. in any event ATI isn't out yet. so the best card out right now is the 7800GTX.
any word on when the 7800Ultra will be released?

I my 21" flat crt will do that resolution.

Wow....that thing must weigh a ton! lol...

Probably about as much as my 22" flat crt. Of course, I only had to lift it once about two years ago, so I could care less. ;)

(the giant oak desk it's on doesn't seem to notice either)

Nvidia has the 7800 Ultra on the back burner.

The reasons are two fold:

1. R520 beats 7800GTX, 7800 Ultra is Nvidia's immediate response.

2. 7800 Ultra launches alongside R520 and assuming performances are roughly equal, 7800 Ultra takes away from potential R520 buyers.

all rumors. Some say GTX replaces Ultra, Some say Ultra is an ace up the sleeve.

Agreed, everything is a rumor at this point... even R520 itself.

I'm going with the Ultra being the ace up the sleeve.

I ahve no doubt that Nvidia has been hand picking the best G70 cores and are gonna couple it with some ridculously fast RAM for some insane clock speeds.

Plus, it would be just bad buisness for Nvidia to show all of it's cards this early.

Besides, why would you give up the "Ultra" in your product name?? I bet the word "ultra" sells more cards than the fact that it has 24 pipes.
